What is Korean Strawberry Milk?
Korean Strawberry Milk is a sweet, creamy, and refreshing beverage made with a fresh strawberry puree-syrup. It's commonly sold in convenience stores in Korea and is a dessert-like drink. Japan has a similar drink, called ichigo Milk.
Strawberry Milk has recently became viral so it was time to share this delicious recipe! It's important to use real strawberries that are crushed and heated to form a slightly sweetened flavour for the drink. You can use fresh or frozen strawberries depending on your preference. Finally, it's topped with lots of ice and plant-based milk is mixed in.
Traditionally, Korean strawberry milk is made with dairy milk but this recipe offers a delicious, vegan method.
Ingredients to Make Strawberry Milk
- Real strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- White sugar
- Plant-based milk
- Ice
What is the Best Plant Milk To Use?
Go with a plant milk that's has more body and thickness to it. If it's too thin, the drink will taste a bit too runny. Below are recommendations:
- Oat milk
- Almond milk (this is what I used)
- Coconut milk
Expert Tips to Make Korean Strawberry Milk
- Don't leave large chunks in the strawberry puree-syrup. Large chunks will get stuck in a straw when drinking.
- Use ripe strawberries. This will yield maximal sweetened and summery-flavour of the berries.
- Let the strawberry puree-syrup cool down before adding ice.
